Our Mission
We believe in partnering with parents to train the whole child’s head, heart, and hands within a safe nurturing environment.
Our mission is to join with parents in equipping students with the relational, practical and academic skills they need to succeed and to encourage the strengths, gifts, and purpose within each student.
About Charter Lighthouse
Lighthouse Education Center offers classes to home school families. Our main classes are Math, Language Arts, History, and/or Science. As an education center, Lighthouse supports student learning with a multitude of classes offered and taught by experienced tutors. These classes offer students extra support with live instruction.
LEC’s class schedule allows students to choose classes that fit their needs. Students have the ability to attend individual classes or all classes.

Elementary

Math
On-campus elementary math classes consist of direct instruction, creative centers, exciting games, and hands-on activities. Students learn that math can be fun! Throughout the elementary years, students progress in their ability to add, subtract, divide, multiply, tell time, and understand how these all work together.
Language Arts
For elementary language arts, our classes include multi-sensory phonics, spelling, grammar, writing, public speaking, literature, poetry, and handwriting. The goal is to support the child where he or she is and move them forward in these critical stages of language arts development.

History & Science
Social studies and science for the elementary grades will be hands-on, exploratory classes designed to help students understand the past and make connections to the world around them.
Electives
Lighthouse Education Center also offers electives for students. These electives include physical education, art, and ASL. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take classes for music and drama with other outside vendors for a small additional fee.

Middle School
Our middle school program is designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through studies that utilize inquiry and hands-on learning. Middle school courses are taught by subject-area tutors that engage students in collaborative learning experiences. These classes will help students develop important communication, time management, and organizational skills in preparation for the high school years.
The average class size for our middle school classes are 20:1.

Math
Mathematics instruction at the middle school level builds upon the student’s previous knowledge, while at the same time continuing to challenge them in dynamic ways. In class, students receive direct instruction and participate in engaging group activities to reinforce their learning. These classes and activities serve to solidify their understanding of the concepts presented in class. By the end of the middle school years, students will be prepared for Algebra.
Language Arts
Lighthouse’s middle school classes strive to help students pursue excellence within the core subjects. Our language arts program consists of reading quality literature, multi-genre writing, grammar instruction, and vocabulary enhancement. Tutors support student learning through a variety of classes and collaborative experiences.

History & Science
In social studies, students are encouraged to engage with history through debates, simulations, and group collaboration. Similarly, science classes incorporate hands-on experiments and group investigations to create an exciting environment.
Electives
Our enrichment classes are designed to enrich the on-campus experience for our middle schoolers. These classes include music, drama, art, ASL, and study hall helps class. Additionally, students can enroll in outside classes with other vendors who host classes at Lighthouse.
